D. Q. Cubit named to fill unexpired term of sheriff

CHRIS GRANGER was sworn in as acting Constable in Post 2 by Circuit Judge Tomika Harris-Irving. Granger is the apparent winner of election to a full term in the office beginning January 1, 2020.

UNDER SHERIFF D. Q. (Derrick) Cubit was sworn in to fill the unexpired term of Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones by Circuit Judge Tomika Harris-Irving on November 4.

Under Sheriff D. Q. Cubit was named to fill the unexpired term of Sheriff Harold Jones by the Copiah County Supervisors at their November 4 meeting. Chris Granger was sworn in to fill the unexpired term of Constable Post 2 until he is sworn in for a full term beginning January 1, 2020.
Ben Lott, Executive Director of the Copiah County Medical Center was authorized to have the timber cut on the former Veterans of Foreign Wars property purchased by the hospital that is located east of the facility and facing Interstate 55. Plans for the demolition of the building and dealing with closing out utilities were discussed. Lott indicated that financial concerns at the institution had stabilized to a degree
Supervisors were reminded of a public hearing at the Gallman Safe Room November 12 on the possibility of securing a wood pellet manufacturing plant in Copiah.
The end of year holiday schedule was listed as November 11 for Veterans Day, Thanksgiving November 28 and 29; Christmas December 24 and 25 and New Year’s Day January
Use of the Circuit Courtroom was authorized for Veterans Day on November 11.
Officials recessed until November 8 for their regular bill paying session.
